The 2015 Tertiary League season may not have start yet, but this hasn’t prevented a series of teams going head to head, trialing their combinations and squads over the weekend.
Kicking off the trials, the newly formed Australian Catholic University Saints headed to Campbelltown to take on the University of Western Sydney Ducks. The Saints, in what was their first official hit out, showed plenty of promise. however struggled to complete their sets against the heavily drilled Ducks team, going down 56 – 0.
Meanwhile at Mayfield, the University of Newcastle Seahorses fought out at 20-all draw against the Norwest Polecats. Played with no conversions and unlimited reserves, both sides scored 5 tries a piece in an entertaining encounter.

The NSW Tertiary Student Representative Team will undertake a tour to Canada from 9-21 July 2015.
As in previous tours of this nature participation will be on a user pays basis, with the team to play three games against university student teams from around the Vancouver area.
Accommodation will be based at British Columbia University and participation costs are yet to be finalised but it is anticipated the cost of the levy to tour will be approx. $2,500-$2700. Levy will cover the cost of air fares, meals & accommodation, apparel, etc.
To be eligible to tour, players must be registered to play in the NSWTSRL competitions and selection will be based primarily, but not solely, on City/Country match to be played on 15 May.

Forty-five years since the competition’s inception, the NSW Tertiary Student Rugby League has launched it’s brand new online presence to help take the league into the future.
Starting with a new look Tertiary League website (www.tertiaryleague.com.au), the NSW Tertiary Student Rugby League will be launching a range of new online initiatives to help improve the profile of the competitions and representative opportunities.
Included as part of the new digital relaunch, includes an improved social media presence on Twitter and Facebook, and a range of new club websites which will be rolled out in the coming weeks.
The NSW Tertiary Student Rugby League, the only Saturday open age Rugby League league in the Sydney basin, features teams from Sydney, Newcastle and Canberra, covering the largest geographic region of any amateur competition.

The selection trial for the NSW Universities Representative team to play Qld Universities in the annual Interstate Challenge is being held on Sunday 15 March 2015, 9am – 12pm at TG Milner Field (Top Oval), Vimiera Rd, Marsfield.
Players selected in the team will play in the Universities Interstate Challenge match at Campbelltown Stadium on Saturday 2 May 2015.
The 2015 Australian Universities Rugby League train-on squad will be chosen after this match and accordingly a number of conditions apply to any player interested in trialing for the NSW Universities team. These requirements are outlined below and it is important all nominees are prepared to accept them before making application.
